Building a bold brand for a historic
presidential candidate in just 107 days.
-
A team of creatives joined the Biden-Harris campaign, which became the Harris-Walz campaign with just 107 days until election day. We were tasked with introducing to some — and reintroducing to many — a candidate unlike any other. From interim branding (designed by Linda Strong and I) to event design to performance ads to bus wraps to billboards, we infused her energy, dynamism, and confidence into everything we designed.
I co-lead five verticals with McKinley Gillespie, the most intensive being event design. We were responsible for defining the look and feel of every campaign event. We strategically chose typefaces, colors, and slogans that aligned with the tone of the event, then used that art direction to design large-format banners, podium signs, placards, LED screens, and swag — what I coined an “event in a box.” This process allowed us to work efficiently and thoughtfully at breakneck speed. By election day, we designed for more than 300 rallies, speeches, events, and concerts.
This mighty team designed: 170 state, collegiate, and coalition-specific sub brands, three airplanes, four buses, two food trucks, two policy books, 1000+ placards, hundreds of digital and ooh ads, 10+ posters, and one viral hat. So many hands touched so much of this work — a true team effort. I am immensely proud of what we accomplished in just 107 days.
